Thank you to everyone who came out and shared the day with us and special thanks to the crew at Ebullition for being such fantastic hosts. There’s nothing better than sharing our passion for cars and making new friends!
LAGUNA SECA SPRINT CUP FINALE PROVES CHALLENGING
MONTEREY, CA – Compass Racing rolled into WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca – the team's home track for this season now that they are fully California-based – with high hopes for a good finish to the end of the second season with their McLaren 720S GT3 in IMSA’s GTD competition. Certainly, they'd had some good performances over the year – including two pole positions – and hoped to close out what has been a decidedly odd 2020 with a solid result.
EBULLITION RELEASES THREE BREWS INSPIRED BY THE 2020 RACING SEASON
VISTA, CA — Ebullition Brew Works has created three motorsports-inspired beers to celebrate the conclusion of the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup and their first season as a strategic partner to Compass Racing. The amusingly-named, limited-run beverages will be shared – in a socially-distanced manner – with friends and competitors after the season-ending race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on Sunday, November 1st.
CHARLOTTE ROVAL RACE REPORT
Ninth-place finish at the North Carolina bullring's wet and soggy IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup race
CHARLOTTE, NC — IMSA’s first trip to Charlotte Motor Speedway’s “Roval” replaced the originally-scheduled round at Lime Rock Park, and the track did an admirable job of living up to the “bullring” term that’s used to describe the Connecticut track.
JEFF KINGSLEY JOINS COMPASS RACING FOR REMAINING IMSA WEATHERTECH SPRINT CUP EVENTS
Current Porsche GT3 Cup Championship leader to sub for Corey Fergus and co-drive with Paul Holton
VISTA, CA — Compass Racing has signed Jeff Kingsley to co-drive the team’s No. 76 Richard Mille McLaren 720S GT3 with McLaren Factory Driver Paul Holton for the two remaining rounds of IMSA’s WeatherTech Sprint Cup, subbing for Corey Fergus, whose wife is expecting their first child in the coming weeks.
DESTRUCTION AT SRO ROAD AMERICA
Ray Mason started the first race of the SRO Road America event from the back of the GT4 Sprint field (after we moved him from SprintX so that he could drive solo) and in wet conditions moved up 11 positions to third in class and fifth overall, with just a few minutes left in the race. An incredible job that was marred by an overly-optimistic (as in, "what was he thinking?") move heading in to Canada Corner that resulted in both cars being written off.
FIRST PLACE AT ROAD AMERICA
Successful first GT4 weekend in Wisconsin nets two first-place finishes
VISTA, CA — Our first of two weekends at the famed Elkhart Lake circuit saw Ray Mason take wins on both Saturday and Sunday, in our team’s first GT Celebration event.
COMPASS GT4 MCLAREN PROGRAM RETURNS TO ROAD AMERICA
VISTA, CA — Compass Racing's GT4 program returns to the famed Elhkart Lake in August with back-to-back weekends in two different series. Long-time team driver Ray Mason returns to the team for his eighth season, at the helm of one of the squad’s McLaren 570S GT4s.
ROAD AMERICA RESULT BELIES 720S GT3 PACE
The extensive amount of testing Compass Racing has been doing on the team's McLaren 720S GT3 is beginning to pay dividends as IMSA moves into the final few rounds of the WeatherTech Sprint Championship.
RACE REPORT: SEBRING IN JULY
Although Compass Racing’s No. 76 McLaren 720S GT3 finished well down the points – in 11th – at the season-opening WeatherTech Sprint Cup round at Daytona International Speedway, our car showed strong pace, with Corey Fergus taking pole position, and both he and co-driver Paul Holton setting second-fastest laps during their stints. Our rolling 20-lap averages were also towards the front of the field, and this resulted in IMSA decreeing a rather substantial decrease in performance to our Richard Mille-sponsored entry for the second round, at Sebring.
COMPASS RACING MCLAREN 720S GT3 ON POLE AT DAYTONA
Strong start to season thwarted in early going
Daytona Beach, FL — Compass Racing started the 2020 IMSA Sprint Cup Championship off with aplomb at Daytona International Speedway, with Corey Fergus taking the team’s No. 76 Richard Mille McLaren 720S GT3 to pole position in qualifying on Saturday afternoon.

COMPASS MOVES OPERATIONS TO CALIFORNIA
ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED ON SPORTSCAR365.
Compass Racing has relocated its GT3 operations to the U.S., joining the squad's GT4 program in Southern California, in a move that’s been accelerated due to the current border restrictions, according to team owner Jill Beck.
The former Toronto-based team will now call San Diego home, and a temporary shop has been established in Miami for the next six weeks, which has seen the team’s core group of Canadian crew set to remain in Florida through the summer.
IMSA IRACING ROUND TWO: FERGUS AND HOLTON BATTLE
The Matrix, Interwebs — Although they have competed against each other on track in the real world — as recently as the 2019 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season — our drivers Corey Fergus and Paul Holton have never battled each other in sim racing. That changed yesterday when the two joined 50 of IMSA’s top talent in the second iRacing round of the Coronavirus championship.
