COMPASS360 RACING SIGNS ST CHAMPIONS BURROWS AND HOPWOOD
Toronto, Canada—Throughout the 2007 Grand-Am KONI Challenge season, Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood had to keep one eye on the road and one in the mirror to keep tabs on the all-out championship pursuit from Compass360 Racing. In the end, the ST Class Championship came down to the thrilling last laps of the season in the VIR Six-Hour enduro, as Burrows stormed to take the final spot in the podium and clinch the championship with Hopwood.
CHRISTIAN MILLER TO DRIVE WITH COMPASS360 RACING
Newark, CA - Christian Miller returns to the KONI Challenge in 2008 after a successful run in 2007. This season, he’s driving for Compass360 in their #75 Acura TSX, which he’ll be sharing with Kevin York.
TRAVIS WALKER RETURNS TO COMPASS360
Toronto, Canada - Travis Walker returns for his third full season in a Grand Am KONI Challenge Acura in 2008, joining Karl Thomson at the helm of Compass360’s #76 TSX.
KEVIN YORK JOINS COMPASS360 FOR 2008 KONI CHALLENGE
CHARLOTTE, NC - Kevin York will rejoin the Grand American Road Racing’s KONI Challenge Series full time in 2008. In doing so, Kevin will again partner with 2007 championship-leading team, Compass360/Racing. The team ultimately finished second in the 2007 ST-class Drivers’ Championship and, for the second year in a row, helped to bring Acura its second consecutive Manufacturer’s Championship.
THOMSON REFLECTS ON WINNING SEASON
Grand Am's KONI Challenge wrapped up its 12-race 2007 season at picturesque Virgina International Raceway in early October. Karl Thomson, who co-drove with Billy Johnson in the #76 Acura TSX, looks back on the year with pride. "We started 2007 with a win at Daytona," he noted. "We won at Billy's home track (Laguna Seca) and at mine (Mosport), and had another win at Watkins Glen. That is simply an amazing year!"
BOTH OF OUR TSX'S IN TOP EIGHT IN UTAH
Tooele, UT – Compass360 Racing hoped to gain some ground in the KONI ST-class championship battle in the series' penultimate round at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah this past weekend.
COMPASS360 ACURAS SECOND AND FOURTH IN QUEBEC
Compass360 Racing's Acuras performed tremendously at the historic street fight in Trois Rivieres, Quebec bringing home another podium finish for the championship-chasing #76 TSX of Billy Johnson and Karl Thomson, and a top-five result for Matt Pritiko as he chases Rookie of the Year honours.
STRONG FINISHES AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK
Birmingham, AL – Billy Johnson and Karl Thomson had another strong run in their #76 Compass360 Racing Acura TSX at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend. Leading the driver's championship going into the race (just two points ahead of the Turner Motorsports team) Johnson and Thomson finished seventh, dropping to second place, six points back and still very much in contention (Thomson/Johnson have 223 points versus the 230 points of Turner's Burrows/Hopwood).
FIRST AT WATKINS GLEN: WE RE-TAKE KONI ST-CLASS LEAD
Watkins Glen, NY — Billy Johnson re-took the lead of the ST-class field with a dramatic last-lap pass of Shane Lewis in the #22 HART Accord and held on to finish first at last weekend's KONI Challenge race at the famed Watkins Glen circuit.
MID-OHIO: CARNAGE TAKES OUT ALL OUR CARS
Lexington, OH – It was a challenging weekend for Compass360 Racing's Acuras at Mid-Ohio. Especially challenging since all three cars showed good speed all weekend, with the team's TSX's within the top five in nearly every session. Good results, following closely on the team's emotional home-track win at Mosport a week earlier, seemed certain.
OUR THIRD WIN OF 2007 ON FATHER'S DAY AT MOSPORT
Bowmanville, ON – Mosport, the sixth of twelve races on the KONI Challenge schedule, was a very rewarding weekend for Compass360 Racing. Each of the team's three cars finished the race, with solid performances from all six drivers.
TRIUMPH AND DISAPPOINTMENT AT LIME ROCK
Lime Rock, CT – After making the cross-country trek from California to the tight, twisty confines of Lime Rock in record time, the Compass360 Racing team had every expectation of another good result to follow their win at Laguna Seca.
LAGUNA SECA RACE REPORT: OUR SECOND WIN THIS YEAR
Monterey, CA – The three-car Compass360 Racing team had much to celebrate this weekend at Laguna Seca, scoring their second win of the season for Billy Johnson and Karl Thomson.
BILLY AND KARL HANG IN TO FINISH 11TH AT IOWA
Newton, IA – Despite promising practice times which had the Compass360 Acuras near the top of the charts, the team suffered on-track calamity and mechanical woes that kept all three of their cars out of the top-ten at Iowa Speedway this past weekend.
THOMSON/JOHNSON TAKE 4TH IN MIAMI, PRITIKO/COLEMBIE 9TH
Miami, FL – Compass360 Racing's drivers dealt with the hot and humid conditions to give the team a good finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway this past weekend.
KARL THOMSON AND BILLY JOHNSON FINISH FIRST AT DAYTONA
Daytona, FL – Compass360 Racing's Acuras featured prominently in the opening round of this season's KONI Challenge at Daytona last weekend. The team's cars, which were at or near the top of the time charts at Grand-Am's Test Days earlier this month, again showed good speed out of the box.
A SUCCESSFUL TEST FOR COMPASS360 AT DAYTONA
Daytona, FL -- Two new Acura TSXs joined a veteran RSX in the Compass360 Racing garages at this past weekend's Daytona test days. All cars featured the team's vibrant new orange and black livery that reflects the spirit of Grand Am's Street Tuner class.
