FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO HELP ME WITH MY ONLINE AUCTION?
We’re happy to do as much or as little as you like! We can handle your online vehicle auction from beginning to end, or we can take our signature high-quality collection of photos and videos and you can run the auction yourself. Fill out our inquiry form or give us a call and we’d be happy to outline our fees and provide you with a detailed estimate based on your specific auction needs.
DO YOU BUY VEHICLES? DO YOU TAKE CARS ON TRADE?
No, we are not a car dealer. We consider ourselves a marketing agency helping individuals successfully sell their personal vehicles via reputable online auction platforms such as Bring A Trailer, Cars & Bids, PCarMarket and Hemmings.
DO I NEED TO MAINTAIN INSURANCE WHILE MY CAR IS BEING AUCTIONED?
Yes, you need to maintain both Comprehensive and Collision Insurance Coverage while your vehicle is at Compass Racing Collective’s facility.
WHY DID YOU GUYS STOP RACING??
Ha! Fair question. At the conclusion of the 2021 race season, Compass Racing owners Karl and Jill were at a bit of a crossroads: continue with racing or turn the page and begin a new chapter. After many sleepless nights, they decided to drop the mic following the team’s spectacular historic win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and step away from motorsports after nearly 20 successful years. The reality is that the economics of racing (particularly for small family-owned teams) has evolved considerably since Compass Racing was launched in 2004 and being on the road 20+ weekends per year can take its toll. While it is never easy to walk away from your passion (it wasn’t), our founders have found a renewed passion for cars in the world of online vehicle auction management, which allows them to continue to have success in the automotive space while utilizing their creative sides — plus drive a bunch of cool cars! — but with a lot less stress, air travel delays and mediocre on-the-road food.
IS COMPASS RACING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?
As a discreet and exclusive facility where our clients entrust their collector cars, we are intentionally not an event venue, and access to our facility is by appointment only.
While we are not open to the general public, if you are considering using our services to market your vehicle, we would be pleased to schedule a private tour.
DO YOU HOST EVENTS AT YOUR FACILITY?
We value the privacy of those who leave their cars with us as paramount, and so we don’t have events at our facility. We are, however, active in the local car community and encourage our clients to attend the wide variety of events available to car enthusiasts in San Diego County, the greater Palm Springs area and beyond.
