WALKER ROCKS CKN 200 PRACTICE NIGHT

Story and photos by Russ Bond

One of the odds-on favourites to take the upcoming Canadian Karting News CKN 200 presented by GrandPrix Kartways is the Compass Racing team. The squad boasts an impressive lineup of drivers: Daytona Koni Challenge pole sitter Travis Walker, Daytona Koni Challenge ST class winner Karl Thomson, and the newest recruit, former GrandNational Karting Champion Matt Pritiko.

Travis Walker paced the field in the practice night for the CKN 200, setting a blistering time of 24.540. "It was good to get out here and get some practice," Walker said. "Our Compass team is ready for the event."

Second on the sheets was Team Centennial's Mike Goodyear. Goodyear only did one session and he didn't disappoint. Goodyear quickly found his rhythm and posted a 24.690. Goodyear's teammate, Mark Woyslaw practiced earlier in the day and set the mark to beat at a 24.4. Third on the list was Karl Thomson, also from the Compass360.com team with a 26.700. Fourth was canadianracers.com Frank Launi. All totaled, all the drivers were very close time wise, and now most teams know where they stand heading into the event on March 4.
