POST-ROAD AMERICA RAMBLINGS
I didn't even bother writing a press release. Our series' first race at Road America, a track I've longed to compete at, was a disaster. Not just for us -- although going from a five point championship lead in the Street Tuner class to a 15-point deficit is pretty bad -- but for everyone. It was a rubbish race. Unless, of course, you're into huge accidents and legions of torn-up cars. In that case, it was a massive success. EVERSLEY TAKES CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD AT WATKINS GLEN
Ryan Eversley and Keith Carroll brought their Compass360 Racing Honda Civic Si home in fifth place at Watkins Glen, after the two leading iMoto MazdaSpeed3's suffered mechanical issues and rules infractions in the closing stages of the race. The result puts Eversley atop the Grand-Am Street Tuner standings but a small margin of five points.
"At Lime Rock the top two guys took each other out, handing us third, and to have it happen again at the next race is just bizarre," noted Eversley. But whatever, we'll take the lead however we can get it. It's been an uphill battle against the regulations so this fifth place is like a win for Keith and me."
