HIGH HOPES FOR MCLAREN GT3 AND GT4 AT HOME TRACK

Compass Racing heads to its home race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the third round of the IMSA WeatherTech Sprint Cup championship. The Toronto-based squad looks to build on a solid start to the season at the Mid-Ohio and Detroit rounds. IMSA has given the team’s #76 McLaren 720S GT3 a positive balance of performance adjustment which the team hopes will help them in their quest for a podium. McLaren Factory Driver Paul Holton will once again be joined by Matt Plumb with sponsorship from Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Richard Mille.

The team will also continue its GS-class campaign with the #75 Richard Mille / Torque Show / Race Day Foundation McLaren 570S GT4. Canadian-native and McLaren Factory Driver Kuno Wittmer will be joined by British racing hot shoe and McLaren driver coach Paul Rees, who is making his IMSA debut.

“We’re excited to be running both GT3 and GT4 McLaren platforms this weekend,” enthused Team Principal Karl Thomson. “We’re hoping our 720S will prove to be competitive against what is a very challenging GT3 field.”

“We’re keen to welcome another McLaren driver to the squad and are looking forward to showing Paul Rees what IMSA racing is all about. Rees comes to us with a great deal of pedigree, including experience in Porsche Supercup and European GT4, and he and Kuno should prove to be a solid driver pairing,” remarked the team’s Managing Director Jill Beck.

Saturday’s race marks the fifth round of the IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge and the team looks to build on its season opening GT4 win at Daytona in January. The race will be streamed live on IMSA.tv beginning at 1:45 PM ET.

On Sunday, for the first time, fans can watch the Mosport round of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race live on NBC starting at 1:00 PM ET!
