C360R MITSUBISHI EVO IMPRESSES AT MOSPORT

Compass360’s Mitsubishi Evolution X made its Mosport debut at a 6th Gear lapping day on Wednesday, and impressed with its speed and reliability. “This really was the first run of the car in race trim, and I’m pleased with how well the first outing went,” enthused Technical Director Ray Lee. “We’ve got more work to do, of course, and some more testing over the coming days, but I’m encouraged by today’s sessions.”

Team Principal Karl Thomson undertook driving duties and was pleased with the car’s drivability. “It’s a quick car, that’s for sure. It was really nice to drive, and easy to toss into the corners and power out. Ray and the guys have done a great job, just like they’ve done with our fleet of Honda Civics.”

The team is working with Grand-Am to homologate the Evo X for competition in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge GS (Grand Sport) class, where it would compete against its showroom nemesis, the Subaru WRX STi, as well as the big V8-powered Ford Mustang 302R, Chevy Camaro and BMW M3, the Dodge Challenger and Audi S4.
